Tbt to the subject of Religion

Religion definitely served as an engine of democratic reforms because of many of the major leaders of the religious reforms. The reason that democracy started to gain popularity was because people started to question why they had to give over complete control of their life to their government. Some people, such as Henry Pierce and Patrick Henry, thought that without state support religion would wither and die, and thus they would all be condemned to hell. However some who question are able to stem a revolution. These people include Thomas Jefferson, who passed a bill to support the freedom to practice religion. He, along with many thought that government should not support nor deny religion. I personally agree because I do not think that people should be able to use the subject of religion in order to further discriminate against others. We already find always to ostracize people and distance ourselves from them, so it would not be a smart idea to add yet another category that can serve as a way for others to discriminate.

  2. I totally agree with you on the fact that religion is not legitimate grounds for discrimination. Especially today, religion is being used by some people to try and justify their hatred or bias against some people, which I think is really not okay.

  3. I like how you combined history which is important to review, and personal opinions to offer to the topic. I personally agree with you completely, and already don't really like how much religion comes up in my everyday life. Good job! :)
