Muckraking Project:
For the Muckraking Project, me and my group chose to do rent stabilization because it is a topic that was recently brought up in lots of City Council meetings held at Downtown Mountain View. The rent is affecting people in many different ways. For one, it is causing people to move far away to different cities that are much more cheaper. Through this, lots of friendships are being terminated. Several people are also getting evicted from their homes because Google is buying buildings and converting them into buildings with high technology. Although we are in the process of receiving an email back from someone from the City Council, I believe that this will be an interesting and well detailed topic.
What are some possible solutions to this problem? Do you know people at this school who are experiencing this problem? You could probably interview them to get more insight?
