John Pierpont Morgan

John Pierpont Morgan was born to a banker. He started his own private banking company after working for his father. His company, JP Morgan & Co become one of the most powerful financial firms that the government looked to the firm for help during the depression and financial crisis. Morgan dominated Carnegie’s business. He strengthened the railroad industry and created the US Steel Corporation. Morgan is considered one of the country’s leading businessmen because he helped shaped the nation.

  1. When Morgan was a banker, he would use the money of his clients to fund whatever he deemed necessary, so he basically was stealing from his clients and still managed to get away with it.

  3. Even though he really did shape the nation, I don't believe the american people and government enjoyed him in the long run, because he ended up being this overbearing figure in the american system who essentially stole money from the government.

  4. Morgan is a controversial figure in history, as he was able to get money from and for nearly anyone. He had so many connections to top businessmen in the world, and was able to use other people's money to make him money. It might be shady, but it's fascinating to learn how he earned his fortune and started one of the biggest banks in the world.
