Muckraking Project Thoughts
The dilemmas presented during the duration of the presentations all had their own important key elements. The group that presented on the school funding's issue had an important idea to realize, which was that some of us are more privileged than others in this country. This is important because it attacks the idea that some things never change in history. Earlier in American History, we also had these problems were the richer would have more privileges than those who were poor. The group that presented on the costs of child care raised a very important question. How is it possible that pre-school is being turned into a business without no one doing anything about it? It's very important to know that such an issue is happening right under our noses. Perhaps one day, the pre-school organizations will turn into a monopoly and become the next Rockefeller (the dude that owned Standard Oil and become extremely rich).

I would have never connected the problems of the past regarding the rich and poor with the problems of today. They appear quite different but in reality they are quite similar.
ReplyDeleteThe documentaries we watched on the business tycoons of the late 19th and early 20th centuries really highlight how the distribution of wealth in America has been an issue for a long time. These few businessmen were very extreme examples, but it was clear that compared to the average American, they had many privileges. I think you did a good job connecting it to the project on preschools as well.
