funding in high schools
In one of the presentation they talked about schools being funded and that some school that kids go to in the more poor parts of the bay area don't really have much. Kids that come here to Los Altos are very grateful that were at a good, nice and wealthy high school, that we don't have to worry about the problems that some kids have to worry about in like San Jose or SF. Like having good teachers that have been there for a while , not being young teachers. Also those schools barely have any students show up because of family struggles and they have to work because they work pay check to pay check to help there family.

I thought the fact about the rich school getting the best teachers was very interesting in the presentation. The fact about teachers in poor communities leaving after only a few years also sparked my interest.
ReplyDeleteI think the point about some poor schools are constantly stuck with new inexperienced teachers was very interesting. Because of rich schools being able to offer a high salary, many poorer schools sadly lose their teachers just because they cannot afford such a high quality staff. I feel we are very fortunate to get the great teachers we have here at Los Altos and the MVLA school district.
ReplyDeleteIt's extremely difficult for schools who are less fortunate, but it's all about giving back. As a community who thrives and generous donations we should look to help other districts that are less fortunate than we are.
ReplyDeleteJack I agree with you. We are very fortunate for the quality of teachers be have at Los Altos High School and in the MVLA school district. We should not take that for granted.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that equalizing the amount of money all the school get would be a good idea. It would be more fair but I feel like a lot of people in more wealthy areas would be really upset if that happened.
