1980s

Even though the 1980s was a pretty recent decade, I found it interesting that there was so much that I didn't know about it. The part of the 1980s that was the most interesting, although sad, was the effect of AIDs ad the stigma around it. While I did know that there had earlier been a stigma around HIV/AIDs because of its connection to the gay community, it was interesting to learn about the gradual shift out of that mindset and the events that led to its stigma being reduced.

  1. I agree with you. There was also a lot that I didn't know about until this documentary. How does the effects of AIDS and the stigma relate to us today?

  2. I found this topic very interesting as well, as seen by my own post. Since AIDS was the number one, largest fear regarding health and disease, I would be interesting in knowing the other diseases or fears that existed at the time, behind AIDS.

  3. I agree with all my classmates. It is also interesting how that stigma is still here, and how members of the gay community cannot donate blood because of it.
